RWF Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline for 192 Posts

Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), a premier production unit of Indian Railways under the Ministry of Railways, invites applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Act Apprentices in various trades for the year 2025–26. The apprenticeship training will be conducted at its facility in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, in accordance with the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Interested candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria are encouraged to submit their offline applications within the stipulated timeframe.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the 10th Class examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board as on the date of issue of this Notification.

2. Technical Qualification

Applicants must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant designated trade, issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT).

  • Mere completion of a course without obtaining the NTC will not be considered sufficient.
  • Candidates awaiting ITI/NTC results as on the date of this Notification are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have failed in ITI/NTC should not apply.

3. Higher Qualifications

Engineering Graduates and Diploma Holders are not eligible to apply under this Notification, as their apprenticeship training is governed by a separate scheme.

4. Employment Exchange Registration (Mandatory)

Candidates must have registered their names with the local Employment Exchange, and the registration must be valid and current as on the date of issue of this Notification.

  • Preference will be given to candidates registered with Employment Exchanges within the State of Karnataka.

5. Wards of Serving Railway Employees

Wards of serving Railway employees across Indian Railways are also eligible to apply.

  • Such applications must be forwarded through the concerned Controlling Official in the prescribed proforma (Annexure-D).
  • Registration with the Employment Exchange is not mandatory for this category.

6. Course Mode & Recognition

Only full-time regular courses will be considered. All minimum essential qualifications must be obtained from recognized Boards and NCVT.

Selection Process

1. Preparation of Merit List

Selection of candidates will be based purely on merit, determined by the percentage of marks obtained in the 10th Standard / Matriculation or its equivalent examination (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks).

  • The percentage will be calculated by taking into account the marks obtained in all subjects as reflected in the mark sheet.
  • No weightage will be given to any individual subject or group of subjects.

2. Tie-Breaking Criteria

In the event of two or more candidates securing the same percentage of marks, the following criteria will be applied:

  1. The candidate with older age will be given preference.
  2. If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the 10th Standard / Matriculation examination earlier will be considered first.

3. Final Merit List

A final merit list will be prepared trade-wise, equal to the number of notified vacancies in each designated trade.

  • Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates will be strictly followed as per Government norms.
  • The merit list will be arranged in descending order of percentage of marks obtained.

4. Document Verification

Candidates shortlisted for engagement will be required to produce their original certificates and testimonials for verification. Engagement will be subject to satisfactory verification of all documents.


Medical Fitness Requirements

Selected candidates must meet the minimum standards of physical fitness as prescribed under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 (as amended from time to time).

  • Candidates must submit a Medical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-E) prior to engagement.
  • The certificate must be issued by a Government-authorized Gazetted Medical Officer, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State Government Hospital.

Failure to meet the prescribed medical standards will result in cancellation of candidature.

Application Fee

1. Processing Fee

An application processing fee of ₹ 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) is payable by candidates belonging to applicable categories.

  • The fee must be paid in the form of an Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft (DD) issued by any Nationalised Bank.
  • The IPO/DD should be drawn in favour of “Principal Financial Adviser / Rail Wheel Factory”.

2. Fee Exemption

The following categories are exempted from payment of the application fee:

  • SC Candidates
  • ST Candidates
  • Physically Handicapped (PwBD) Candidates
  • Women Candidates

3. Important Instructions

  • Applications not accompanied by the prescribed processing fee (where applicable) will be summarily rejected.
  • The IPO/DD must not have been issued prior to the date of issue of this Notification (28.02.2026).
  • The processing fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Age Limit (as on 01-03-2026)

Candidates must have completed 15 years of age and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 01.03.2026 (i.e., the date of issue of this Notification).


Age Relaxation

Upper age limit is relaxable as follows:

  • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
  • OBC Candidates: 3 years

Additional age relaxation, if applicable, will be granted in accordance with the extant instructions issued by the Railway Board and as amended from time to time.


Reservation & Required Certificates

Candidates seeking the benefit of reservation must produce valid certificates in the prescribed Government of India format, as detailed below:

  • SC/ST Candidates:
    Must submit a caste certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format (Annexure-B).
  • OBC Candidates:
    Must submit:
    1. Caste Certificate in Government of India format, and
    2. Valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 01.07.2025, as per the prescribed format (Annexure-C).

Failure to produce the required certificates in the prescribed format will result in the candidate being considered under the Unreserved category, subject to eligibility.

Salary / Stipend

During the period of apprenticeship training, selected candidates will be paid a monthly stipend as per the prescribed rates:

  • Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic:
    ₹ 12,261/- per month
  • CNC Programming-cum-Operator (COE Group):
    ₹ 10,899/- per month

The above stipend rates are in accordance with the prevailing rules and are subject to revision as per amendments issued from time to time.


Important Note Regarding Employment

As per the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961:

  • It is not obligatory on the part of the Railways to offer employment to Apprentices upon completion of their training.
  • Apprentices trained in Railway establishments shall have no claim or right to seek employment in the Railways solely on the basis of having undergone such apprenticeship training.

Completion of apprenticeship training does not confer any guarantee of permanent or temporary employment in the Railways.

Appointment in Forces

Based on merit rank and preference, candidates will be appointed to one of the following forces:

  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

Selected officers will also be entitled to applicable allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, medical facilities and other benefits as per Government norms.

  1. Download Application Form:
    Obtain the prescribed format (Annexure-A) from the official RWF website.
  2. Fill the Form:
    Complete the application neatly in your own handwriting with all required details.
  3. Attach Documents:
    Enclose self-attested copies of:
    • 10th Mark Sheet
    • ITI / NTC Certificate
    • Caste / Disability Certificate (if applicable)
    • Two recent passport-size photographs
  4. Application Fee:
    Attach the required IPO/DD (where applicable).
  5. Submission:
    Send the duly filled application by Ordinary Post / Speed Post.
    The envelope must be superscribed:
    “Application for Act Apprentice in ______ Trade”

The completed application must reach the prescribed address on or before 01 April 2026.
