Eligibility Criteria

SSC JE Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as on 1 August 2026.
For posts with an upper age limit of 30 years, candidates should generally have been born between 2 August 1996 and 1 August 2008.

SSC JE Application Fee 2026
The application fee for SSC JE 2026 is ₹100 for eligible male candidates belonging to the General/UR, OBC or EWS categories.
The following candidates are exempted from paying the application fee:

- Eligible Ex-Servicemen
The fee can be paid online using the payment methods specified by SSC.
SSC JE Salary 2026
SSC JE posts are generally placed in Pay Level-6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The pay scale is:
₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
Selected candidates may also receive applicable allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance according to Government rules and the organization of posting.
The actual monthly salary will depend on the place of posting and applicable allowances.

SSC JE Selection Process 2026
The SSC JE selection process consists of the following stages:
01. Paper-I
Paper-I is a Computer Based Examination consisting of:

There is negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Paper-II.
03. Document Verification
Candidates shortlisted for appointment must produce the required original documents, including educational qualification, age, category and other applicable certificates.
04. Physical Standards and Medical Examination
Physical standards and medical requirements may apply to specific posts and organizations, including posts under the Border Roads Organisation.

SSC JE Exam Pattern 2026
Both papers are objective-type examinations.
The main structure is:
- Paper-I: 200 questions, 200 marks
- Paper-II: 100 questions, 300 marks

- Paper-II focuses on the relevant engineering discipline.
