Ex-Servicemen Quota
The notification provides for 10% of vacancies to be earmarked for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in the specified trades.
If suitable ESM candidates are not available, the concerned vacancies may be filled by non-ESM candidates belonging to the respective category, as provided in the notification.
The vacancies are tentative and may be increased or decreased at the discretion of the Department.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be Indian citizens and must satisfy the educational and age requirements prescribed for their selected trade.
1. Warrant Officer – Cipher
Educational Qualification:
10+2/Intermediate with Physics, Mathematics and English, along with an NSQF Level 4 or higher course of at least two years in ICT, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Instrumental Technology from a recognized ITI.
Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/ICT from a recognized university or institution may apply.
Age: 18–25 years.
2. Rifleman – Electrical Fitter Signal
Educational Qualification:
Class 10/Matriculation plus at least two years of technical training from ITI, or a 2/3-year Diploma in the specified relevant technical disciplines, including Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Distribution, Electrician, Instrumental Technology, Instrument Mechanic, Technician Power Electronic System, or Technician Electronic System Design and Repair.
Age: 18–23 years.
3. Rifleman – Lineman Field
Educational Qualification:
Class 10/Matriculation plus at least two years of technical training from ITI or a 2/3-year Diploma in the specified relevant fields, including Electronics, Electronics Mechanic, Electrical Engineering, Electrician, Fibre to Home Technology and OFC Technology.
Age: 18–23 years.
4. Rifleman – Armourer
Educational Qualification:
10th pass with an ITI certificate in the Welding trade from a recognized institute.
Age: 18–23 years.
5. Rifleman – Engineer Equipment Mechanic
Educational Qualification:
Class 10/Matriculation plus the prescribed 2/3-year Diploma in Engineer Equipment Mechanic, Power Electric Systems or Mechanic Diesel.

6. Rifleman – Recovery Vehicle Mechanic
Educational Qualification:
10th/Matriculation plus a two-year ITI certificate in Recovery Vehicle Mechanic and a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle/Transport Vehicle Driving Licence.

7. Rifleman – Electrician Motor Vehicle
Educational Qualification:

10+2 pass plus a minimum two-year Diploma in Operation Theatre Technician from a recognized Institute/Hospital and at least one year of work experience as an OT Technician in a recognized hospital having a minimum of 50 beds.

16. Warrant Officer – Physiotherapist
Educational Qualification:
10+2 pass plus a minimum two-year Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized Institute/Hospital and at least one year of work experience as a Physiotherapist from a recognized hospital/physiotherapy centre having a minimum of 50 beds.
Age: 18–25 years.
17. Rifleman – Mason
Educational Qualification:
10th pass from a recognized Board.
Candidates must also qualify the prescribed trade test and provide an undertaking/self-certification confirming at least one year of work experience in the trade.
Age: 18–23 years.

The Date of Birth and Name recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate or equivalent certificate will be accepted for age verification. Requests for subsequent changes will not be entertained.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed physical standards.

Weight must be proportionate to height and age according to the applicable medical standards.
Candidates claiming relaxation under the specified categories must produce the required certificate from the competent authority.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The PET will use an RFID-based system.
Male Candidates
- All India except Ladakh Region: 5 km run within 24 minutes.
- Ladakh Region: 1.6 km run within 7 minutes.
The RFID-based PST/PET is to be conducted at Jorhat or Diphu, Assam. The exact reporting date will be communicated through the official recruitment website after successful submission of the application.
Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The selection process consists of multiple stages. Candidates who qualify one stage proceed to the subsequent stage.
Stage 1: PST and PET
Candidates undergo physical measurements and the prescribed qualifying run.
Stage 2: Documentation Verification
Candidates must produce the required original documents, including the payment receipt/challan and printed application form/notification copy.
Stage 3: Computer Based Test
The CBT will carry 100 marks and consist of objective-type questions.
Minimum qualifying marks:
- General/EWS: 35%
- SC/ST/OBC: 33%
Candidates who qualify the required stages are considered for the Trade Skill Test.
Stage 4: Trade Skill Test
The Trade Skill Test consists of a Computer Based Trade Test and a Specific Practical Skill Test.
The test is qualifying in nature, meaning no marks are awarded.
Candidates are shortlisted for the skill test based on CBT merit, at approximately four times the number of vacancies for each trade/category.
Stage 5: Medical Examination
Candidates undergo the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and where applicable, the Review Medical Examination (RME) according to the applicable recruitment medical guidelines.
Stage 6: Final Merit List
Candidates who qualify all required stages are placed in a trade-wise and category-wise merit list.
Final selection depends on the candidate’s position in the merit list against the available trade and category vacancies. Simply qualifying all stages does not guarantee final selection.
Assam Rifles Recruitment 2026 Application Fee
The application fee for applicable Group C posts is ₹100.
No fee is charged from candidates belonging to:
- Scheduled Caste (SC)
- Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Ex-Servicemen (ESM)
The notification states that the fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other expense.
Payment can be made through the prescribed online payment facility or through SBI Bank Counters using the generated challan.

Important Application Instructions

A change of category or trade during the recruitment process will not be permitted.
Other Important Conditions
Candidates should also note the following conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification:
- Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets are prohibited at rally sites/test centres.
- Selected candidates will remain on probation for two years.
- Candidates who withdraw from training or resign prematurely may be required to refund the full training cost or three months’ pay and allowances, as specified.
