Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess:

• Master’s Degree in Sanskrit with at least 55% marks from a recognized university.

Relaxation in Marks

• SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 50% marks.
• PwD Candidates: 50% marks.
• Ph.D. holders who completed Master’s before September 1991: 50% marks.

Additionally, candidates should have:

• Qualified NET, SLET, or SET examination.

OR

• Candidates possessing a Ph.D. degree as per UGC regulations and fulfilling exemption conditions from NET/SLET/SET.

Desirable Qualification

Candidates should have:

• Knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh.
• Suitability for working under local conditions of the state.

Age Limit (As on 01 January 2026)

Minimum Age: 18 Years
Maximum Age: 45 Years

Age Relaxation

Upper age relaxation is applicable as per Himachal Pradesh Government rules for eligible reserved categories.

Application Fee

HPPSC has prescribed a uniform examination fee of ₹600 for all candidates.

Salary / Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed as Job Trainees and will receive:

₹35,000 per month (Fixed Emoluments).

Selection Process

The selection process consists of the following stages:

Stage 1: Screening Test (Paper-I)

• Objective Type Test (CBT/Offline)
• Duration: 1 Hour
• Total Marks: 100

• National & International Affairs – 30 Marks
• Hindi Language – 20 Marks
• English Language – 20 Marks

Stage 2: Subject Aptitude Test (Paper-II)

• Descriptive Examination
• Duration: 3 Hours
• Total Marks: 120

Stage 3: Personality Test

• Total Marks: 30 Marks

Final merit will be prepared based on:

Subject Aptitude Test (120 Marks) + Personality Test (30 Marks).

Negative Marking

HPPSC has prescribed negative marking in the objective examination.

• 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Leaving a question blank will also attract negative marking unless option “E” (Not Attempted) is selected.
